Serving central Minnesota, our father-son team has a combined 45 years of experience in Midwest and northern ecosystems including boreal forest, temperate forest, prairies, parklands, shorelines and wetlands. We have directly worked at a variety of scales from small residential to a multi-million dollar mine reclamation. Services include project design, timber stand improvement, tree revetments, erosion control, hydromulching, forestry mowing, native seeding, planting, project management and more. Our Team
Carl Korfmacher - Owner
Carl holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Concordia College and a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University. His career in the natural resources field began at Applied Ecological Services (AES) near Madison, Wisconsin in 1995. During his 18 years at AES, he managed the Flambeau Mine reclamation project and several wetland bank construction projects. He was later promoted to President/CEO at AES. In 2013, he left AES and became a business owner with the purchase of Midwest Prairies, LLC, a regional firm engaged in invasive species management, CRP planting, water quality trading, shoreline stabilization and restoration as well as many other types of natural resources projects. He sold Midwest Prairies in 2022 and he and his wife Krista moved to Minnesota. He is now applying his knowledge, experience and commitment to the environment as Owner of TruHabitats.
Henry Korfmacher - Operations Manager
Henry has been involved in the ecological restoration industry since he was 14, starting as a seasonal laborer for his father’s restoration business, Midwest Prairies. Henry then worked seasonally at Northern Ecological Services (NES) in Esko, Minnesota while attending University of Minnesota – Duluth. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, he was hired as a full-time Project Manager at NES. He then transitioned to his current role as Operations Manager at TruHabits. Henry has been an avid outdoorsman since his youth and has restoration experience managing small residential projects up to larger commercial jobs in a variety of habitats.
